Pretty But Deadly Wife

Chapter 1 Kicked Him Under the Bed

Dusk.

A shrill voice of a screaming woman sounded from one of the buildings in the slum housing area.

"That heartless old thing, she's still causing us so much trouble even after she's dead! Her burial plot is even more expensive than the house! I think we should just throw her ashes into the river!"

"How can you throw them into the river? She's our mother!"

At this moment, another man's voice sounded. "Do you have the money to buy a plot, then?"

The woman glared at her husband.

The realistic question made the man speechless immediately.

When the woman saw that, she became even more unreasonable. She yelled, "You good-for-nothing, you can't even afford a burial plot, so what are you yammering about? I was blind when I married you. It was such a misfortune to have married you!"

The man's dignity was hurt.

He replied while acting in a fit of pique, "Alright, I'll just listen to you. We'll just throw the ashes of the old thing away. Are you happy now?"

"What do you mean ‘am I happy'? You are poor, you are the one to blame."

"Throw it away! Throw it now!"

The man was enraged. He said, "I'll throw it into the river now!"

"Go! Anyone who doesn't go is a spineless coward!" The woman was shrieking angrily.

The man's face was dark. He went over to take the urn.

Suddenly, a cold voice came from the room. "I'll pay for the burial plot."

After this was said, the couple was stunned.

They looked in the direction of the room and saw a young woman walking out. She was about 17 or 18 years of age. She had perfect skin, and her face was dainty and beautiful.

"Y-you're Eleanor Hawthorne?"

When the man saw the young woman, his face was filled with shock.

The woman was shocked as well. After her brain understood what had happened, she yelled, "You little rascal, where did you go for all these years? You still know that you should come back, huh?"

The young woman was their adopted daughter.

However, she had disappeared four years ago out of the blue.

Everyone was saying that she ran away with a man. The couple had to face a lot of criticisms from other people because of this.

Eleanor did not care about the two of them.

She walked over to the old woman's photo.

In the photo, the old woman's eyes were benevolent. She was the only one who made Eleanor feel warm. The girl walked over and bowed three times to the photo.

However, the couple ran over.

The woman grabbed Eleanor's shoulder and asked, "Did you just say that you'll pay for the burial plot? Did you really run away with a man? Have you been a mistress for all these years?"

Eleanor removed the woman's hand from hers coldly and said, "I got the money from selling my blood and kidney."

"What?"

"I've chosen the location for the plot and I've already paid for everything. We can bury Grandma tomorrow."

She did not wait for their replies.

Eleanor walked into the old woman's room. Then, she said without turning back, "I had a long journey, so I'm tired. I'll sleep in Grandma's room tonight. Don't call me for dinner."

After she said that, she slammed the room shut with a loud bang.

The woman's eyes were wide and her jaw was on the floor.

She turned around and looked at her husband. She said, "Do you think Eleanor really sold her blood and kidney to earn money for that old thing's burial plot?"

"Are you stupid?"

The man looked at the door and said in a low voice, "This ungrateful wench disappeared for four years. She must have gained connections with some rich men and she's scared that we'll find out. After we bury my mom, we have to ask her about it."

"Yes!"

The woman agreed and said, "She has that alluring face, so she must be a mistress. That's why she didn't say it out loud."

The couple was scheming against Eleanor and decided to scam some money from her.

In the night.

Everyone was in deep slumber.

Eleanor was on the phone in her grandmother's room.

An old man's voice sounded from the other end of the phone. He said, "Ellie, don't try to be clever. If not, I won't teach you my medical skill."

When Eleanor heard that, she furrowed her brows together.

"I'm willing to admit my defeat since I agreed to this bet. I said I'd go back to the Hawthornes and I did. However, I must settle my grandmother's burial before I do that."

"Alright, you can go."

After he got her promise, the old man chuckled and said, "Ellie, we just want the best for you. You didn't have enough love and affection ever since you were small. And now, you've finally found your biological parents. You have to go back and find your origin. Plus, your five brothers are all the best among men. Look, what a happy little…"

Eleanor was impatient, so she interrupted the old man. "I'm tired. I have to take care of Grandma's funeral tomorrow. I'm hanging up now."

Before the old man could say anything, she hung up the phone.

She threw the phone to one side and lay down on the bed.

Memories with her Grandma flashed across her brain. She was adopted by this family when she was still young. However, her adoptive parents did not like that she was cold and reclusive. Plus, she did not know how to do anything, so only the grandmother in this family was good to her.

Four years ago.

Before she left, Eleanor wanted her grandmother to leave with her. She had the ability to take good care of her.

Unfortunately, the old woman rejected her.

Even though her son and daughter-in-law were not the best people in the world, this was her home.

Everyone had different ambitions.

Therefore, Eleanor did not continue to try and change the old woman's mind anymore.

She never expected that she wouldn't be able to see her again.

Eleanor was an apathetic person, but when she thought about the passing of the old woman, she still felt a little sad.

When she was reminiscing about the past…

Suddenly, a black figure jumped from outside her window and into her room.

When the other person saw Eleanor in the room, his expression became stern as he pressed her against the wall with a speed as fast as lightning. Then, he covered her mouth and threatened with an icy tone, "Don't make a sound, or else…"

Eleanor frowned. She did not like to be touched.

This man had gone over her limits.

There was a flash of malice in her eyes before she grabbed the man's shoulders. Before he could react, she slammed him down on the floor heavily.

The man's head landed on the floor, making him pass out instantly.

The loud voice alerted Mr. and Mrs. Watson next door.

"You little rascal, it's the middle of the night! What are you doing?"

Eleanor could hear the woman's voice before she came into the room.

Eleanor was quick. Before they opened the door, she managed to kick the man under her bed.

At this moment, the door was opened.

She said to the woman with an indifferent expression on her face, "I fell on the floor while sleeping."

Chapter 2 Sink Her to the Bottom of the Sea Once You Found Her

Mrs. Watson scanned the room and did not see anything suspicious.

She shouted with an angry expression on her face, "You can even fall to the floor while sleeping? Why don't you just die from the fall? Be careful! Don't disturb our sleep!"

After she said that, she slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

Eleanor pressed her lips together and dragged out the man who she had kicked under the bed just now.

After she looked at him thoroughly, she realized something.

The man was badly injured. There were bullet wounds in his stomach and shoulder.

When she grabbed the man's shoulders, her hands were stained with his blood.

Yuck.

How filthy.

She wiped the blood from her hands on the man's body, then she started figuring what she should do with this man.

If he was not treated in time after getting shot, he would die from loss of blood.

This room was already stained with the man's blood.

She would be in a lot of trouble if the man died.

After pondering about this, Eleanor decided to do a surgery for him to extract the bullets.

She grabbed her bag and took out the scalpel from inside.

The silver scalpel glinted ominously underneath the light.

It had been a long while since she performed a surgery.

She would just use this man to practice her skills.

Early in the morning the next day.

Eleanor followed Mr. and Mrs. Watson to the cemetery to bury Grandma Watson.

On the other side in the slum housing area.

A motorcade of black cars appeared.

Everyone from the slum housing area was shocked when they saw the motorcade of luxurious cars.

"Damn, what's going on?"

"I've never seen so many luxurious cars in my life before!"

"What's happening?"

They saw some men in black getting out of the cars before heading to one of the buildings. In the end, they stopped in front of the entrance of Mr. and Mrs. Watson's house.

On the other side.

The man Eleanor performed the surgery on woke up from under the bed. Then, he walked out of the bedroom.

He was still feeling a little light-headed.

The back of his head hurt even more than his bullet wounds.

The men in black broke into the house and saw the man leaning against the sofa. He was holding his forehead with his hand.

"Mr. Carter!"

The leader of the men in black hurried forward and helped him. He said, "I'm sorry for coming so late. Please punish me, Mr. Carter!"

Benjamin Carter knitted his eyebrows together as his memories started to come back to him.

Last night, he had gotten ambushed on his way.

He finally managed to lose the people chasing after him. However, he was defeated by a young woman.

After he woke up, he realized that he was stashed under the bed.

As for that woman, she was nowhere to be seen.

This was the first time in his life that Benjamin felt so humiliated.

When he recalled how a young woman threw him over her shoulders and left him under her bed to die, the air around the man became so icy that it could freeze everyone around him.

Marvelous!

Magnificent!

An ominous glint flashed across Benjamin's eyes as he ordered his subordinates, "Jack, I want all the information on this family. Find that young lady and sink her to the bottom of the sea!"

"Roger!"

After Jack Vaughn accepted his order, he could not help but shudder.

Gosh!

The King of Hell was completely enraged!

What did that young lady do?

No matter what it was, as long as she infuriated this man, she would be met with countless disasters.

On the other side.

"Ah-choo!"

Eleanor sneezed when she was watching Grandma Watson's ashes being lowered to the ground.

The burial was done, and the crowd was about to leave.

Before that, Eleanor turned around and told Mr. and Mrs. Watson, "I need to use the restroom."

When Mrs. Watson heard that, she scolded, "Why didn't you take care of it earlier? Why do you have to go now that we're leaving?"

"It came all of a sudden, so what can I do?" Eleanor said.

"You!"

Mrs. Watson was infuriated when she saw that Eleanor was talking back.

At this moment, Mr. Watson grabbed Mrs. Watson and said, "Alright, she wants to go and you're stopping her. Do you want her to do it on the way home? Go now, hurry. We'll wait for you at the foot of the hill."

After Eleanor heard that, she walked in the other direction without turning back.

At this moment.

Mr. and Mrs. Watson did not think much. They walked to the foot of the hill directly.

"I have to get to the bottom of this later. I want to know which swine of a man that rascal is hanging out with!"

"I don't care who she's hanging out with. The most important thing right now is to get the money!"

"Right, we raised her for more than ten years. Now that she has money, it's time for her to pay us back, right?"

"We have to watch her closely when we're back. We can't let her run away again."

"Exactly!"

The two of them were excitedly talking to each other while thinking about what they should do after they got the money.

The old woman was finally dead, so they were finally free.

Unfortunately, the two of them did not know about something.

Eleanor said she was going to the restroom, but in reality, she was leaving from the other path.

When she was at the foot of the hill, a black car was waiting for her.

She saw a fined-looking middle-aged man in front of the car. Smiling at her, he said, "Miss Eleanor, I'm here to take you back to Hawthorne Manor as per Master Durham's orders."

Eleanor pressed her lips together and threw her bag to the man. She said, "Let's go."

"Of course."

Chapter 3 Meeting Her Biological Parents

St. Albans.

The Hawthornes.

Norman Hawthorne and his wife, Suzanne Hawthorne, immediately came out of the house after hearing about Eleanor.

When they saw the beautiful young woman in front of them, they knew immediately that she was their daughter.

The reason was that Eleanor looked too much like Suzanne.

"Your name's Eleanor now, right?"

Suzanne walked forward and looked at Eleanor with tears in her eyes.

"Yes."

Eleanor looked at the woman in front of her who must have taken very good care of her skin. Her heart was calm as she said, "If you're suspicious about my identity, we can go do another DNA test."

"No. It's not necessary."

Suzanne shook her head quickly.

She wiped away the tears in her eyes and said, "I knew you're my daughter from the first moment I saw you. There's no mistake!"

"We should do one anyway."

At this moment, Norman got up and said, "We have to go through all the procedures so that it's beneficial for all of us."

"Honey?"

Suzanne looked at Norman in shock. She said, "Look at Ellie's face. What else are you suspecting?"

"Plastic surgery is so advanced right now. Where's the degree of credibility just because you two look the same?"

Norman said and looked at Eleanor. There was sternness on his face as he said, "If you're my daughter, then I won't treat you badly. However, if you're not, it's not too late to turn back now."

"Norman!"

Suzanne was unhappy with Norman's attitude.

They were the ones who wronged Ellie. How could he be so cruel to the child?

"We'll see whether I'm your daughter after the report."

Eleanor did not like bickering for no reason.

She would not waste her breath to explain herself if she could talk with proof.

"Ellie?"

Suzanne could only tolerate when she saw that the father and daughter were stuck in a deadlock.

She believed that the girl in front of her was her daughter.

However, Norman was suspicious.

As such, she would use proof to make him believe.

Three hours later.

The result was out.

Eleanor and Norman were indeed father and daughter.

Suzanne could not control herself and hugged Eleanor happily, saying, "Ellie, my daughter. Welcome home!"

"..."

Eleanor's body froze as she was being hugged all of a sudden.

She did not like to have physical contact with other people.

However...

This woman's hug was warm. It was quite nice.

"I've asked the servants to clean your room. You should go and rest. I'll tell your five brothers now so that they can come back and meet you."

"..."

"Right, we have an adopted daughter as well. Her name's Kayleigh. She's half a year older than you, so she's kind of like your older sister. She went out with her friends and she'll be back in a bit. You two are the same age, so I think you're going to have a lot in common."

After she said that, Suzanne called upon her maid and ordered, "Take Miss Ellie to her room."

"Right away."

Eleanor followed the servant upstairs.

Suzanne watched her leaving and was feeling ecstatic.

She was about to turn around and make a phone call when she saw Norman telling something to their butler, DuBois.

"Now go. Get to the bottom of this."

"Right away."

After DuBois left, Suzanne walked over and asked, "Norman, what did you tell DuBois?"

"Nothing."

Norman looked nonchalant as he said, "Ellie has been stranded outside for more than ten years. Of course, I have to see what kind of life she had before."

"Why? Isn't the future more important?"

Suzanne did not agree with that. She said, "The child must have suffered a lot out there. Aren't you just going to hurt her more by investigating?"

"It's better than causing more trouble in the future," Norman said.

The Hawthornes were an aristocratic family. Five of his sons were giants in their respective industries. Even their adopted daughter, Kayleigh, was excellent. She was the prime example of a socialite from a prestigious family. Now that Eleanor was back all of a sudden, despite being the biological daughter, she had been out there for a long time. If she was notorious for her misdeeds, she would bring shame to the Hawthornes.

Norman had been a proud man for his whole life. He could not let this daughter ruin everything!

"What troubles could there be? Ellie's such a good girl," Suzanne said hurriedly.

"Good girl?"

Norman scoffed. He looked upstairs and said, "I don't think so. This girl has been back for so long, but has she ever once addressed us as her mom and dad? She doesn't know any manners. If we don't look into her, we'll regret it in the future!"

Chapter 4 Eleanor, Help

"Miss Ellie, this is your room," the servant opened the door of the room and said.

Eleanor walked into the room and what greeted her was a sea of pink.

Her eyes twitched. When she was about to say something, her phone rang.

"Your job here is done. You can leave now," Eleanor said to the servant.

"Of course."

The servant then exited the room.

After Eleanor closed the door, she took out her phone and answered the call.

"Hello."

"Eleanor, help!"

A hurried voice sounded from the other end of the call.

"..."

"I heard the old man say that you're in St. Albans. Hurry! I need you to race for me tonight in Herbst Hill. It's very urgent!"

The man who called Eleanor was her best friend, Joe Taylor. He was also a famous international racer.

"I'm not free," Eleanor replied briskly.

"How come?"

"I'm back to my biological parents'. I need to have dinner with them tonight."

"Ah?"

After Joe heard that, he suddenly remembered that Eleanor had found her biological parents.

As such, she was forced to go back to meet them with the old men for the sake of advancing their relationship. After all, Eleanor was too reclusive, so it was understandable why the old men did that.

"How long can dinner be? The race starts at 10 pm. You can get here if you hurry, right?"

Joe did not want to admit defeat, so he enticed her. "If you help me, I'll give you all of the winning money! 300 million bucks, do you think it's enough?"

"Do you think I'm a beggar? Do you think you can get me to agree by offering this to me?"

Eleanor's fee would normally at least be 500 million dollars and above.

"Boohoo, just help me, Eleanor. I'll give you 200 million more, okay?"

Joe was always so flashy in front of other people, but when he was in front of Eleanor, he could just forgo his dignity altogether.

Eleanor frowned. "Can't you do it yourself? Why do I have to do it?"

Joe was an amazing racer as well.

There was no need for him to cheat.

When Eleanor brought this up, Joe felt indignant at the injustice.

He said, "It's all because of those hooligans from The Eagles. They were playing dirty. We said that only two teams would compete, but in the end, they hired some outsiders to help them. That guy's amazing and we're not his opponents at all. If they can play dirty, then we'll use their methods against them!"

"Who's that? You're scared of him too?" Eleanor asked curiously.

"He's the Silver Flash of the racing world. That guy managed to stay champion for five consecutive years during the world championship. Do you think I can defeat him?"

"You can't," Eleanor said firmly.

"Right?"

Joe started crying, saying, "It's about the dignity of the entire racing team. We can't lose! So please help us, Eleanor."

Eleanor could not stand it when Joe cried. She said with a condition, "600 million dollars and I'll do it."

"Deal! I'll even give you a billion as long as we win!"

Joe was excited.

"Right, a billion dollars then."

Eleanor would not complain about having too much money.

"No, no, no, it's just a figure of speech…"

"Dad, Mom, why are you home today?"

When Kayleigh got home, she saw both of her adoptive parents.

Her adoptive mother, Suzanne, was beaming at her. She walked over and asked curiously, "Mom, what happened? Why are you so happy?"

"It's extremely good news."

Suzanne walked over with a smile and grabbed Kayleigh's hand. She said, "Kayleigh, your little sister is back!"

"…"

After she said that, Kayleigh's smile froze on her face. Her brain was also buzzing.

One second later.

She forced a smile on her face and asked once more. She did not want to believe what she just heard. "Little sister? What do you mean?"

When did she have an extra sister?

"It's Eleanor!"

Suzanne smiled and explained, "Back then, your dad and I had another daughter. She got lost after an accident. However, she found us now."

"..."

That was such horrible news to Kayleigh.

A biological daughter?

That daughter even found them?

How could this be?

Initially, there was only her in this family.

She was the little princess of the Hawthornes. Aside from having an excellent family background, she also had five excellent brothers. Everyone was so envious of her.

However, this random young woman showed up out of the blue and claimed to be the Hawthorne family's biological daughter.

Would an adopted daughter like her still have any status in this family now that the young woman was back?

No.

She would not let that young woman take away what was supposed to be hers!

Kayleigh was dumbfounded. She forced a smile and said hypocritically, "Mom, I'm so happy. I didn't think that she'd be alive and that she'd come back to us! However, are you sure it's her?"

"Do you think she's faking this?"

"There are people who can do anything just to get into an aristocratic family!"

Chapter 5 All Five of Her Brothers Stood Her Up At the Same Time

"Hehe, you're just like your father."

Suzanne smiled and said, "Don't worry, Ellie did a DNA test the moment she came back. She's our daughter! She's your little sister!"

"..."

When Kayleigh heard Suzanne's affirmation, she wanted to die.

It was real!

It was actually real!

How could that be?

At this moment, Eleanor walked downstairs.

When Suzanne heard movements behind her, she turned around and smiled. She said, "Ellie, you're here. Come, this is your older sister, Kayleigh. You two are the same age. Come and get to know each other."

Kayleigh's eyes landed on Eleanor.

Eleanor looked almost the same as Kayleigh. She was a classical beauty with an exotic charm. She was fair-skinned, and her dainty face was adorned with delicate features. Plus, she had an inviolable air of elegance around her. It was obvious that she came from a rich and prestigious family.

This young woman was the true princess of this family.

When Kayleigh saw Eleanor, her eyes were green with envy.

However, what did it matter if she was the Hawthornes' biological daughter? She was stranded out there for so many years and must have led a terrible life. If not, why would she come back?

Kayleigh had been in this family for so many years.

That country bumpkin would not be able to compare to her in terms of manners, etiquette, and education.

When she thought about this, Kayleigh felt more confident.

She puffed up her chest and approached Eleanor in the manner of an aristocratic young lady. She said passionately, "Ellie, welcome to the family. My name's Kayleigh and I'm your older sister. You can just call me ‘Kay'."

While she said that, she reached out her hand to Eleanor as a friendly gesture.

Eleanor did not like having physical contact with other people. Plus, Kayleigh looked extremely fake, so it made her even more reluctant to shake hands with her.

"Hello," Eleanor said flatly. Her hands were behind her back.

Norman saw all of this happening.

He already had his prejudice against Eleanor, so when he saw her having her hands behind her back even when Kayleigh had reached out to her, he frowned. This young woman did not have any manners at all.

He said in a deep voice, "Eleanor, your sister wants to shake your hand. What are you waiting for?"

"I don't want to."

Eleanor glanced at Norman and told him how she felt.

That man did not like her.

Good, she did not like him as well.

"You!"

Norman's face fell. When he was about to get angry with her, Suzanne came forward and eased the tension. She said, "Alright, Norman. Ellie just came home, so she's unfamiliar with everyone. It's normal to be anxious about new people, so don't force her, okay?"

After she said that, she grabbed Eleanor's shoulder and grinned. "Ellie, don't be scared. These are your family. It's okay if you don't want to shake hands. You can get used to this slowly."

"..."

Eleanor looked at the woman in front of her.

This woman was looking at her gently.

Plus, Eleanor could feel that she was accepting her from the bottom of her heart.

She hesitated for a second before saying to Suzanne, "I'll try my best."

"You're a good girl, Ellie."

Suzanne was delighted.

Kayleigh was extremely jealous as she watched Suzanne doting on Eleanor.

That damned Eleanor, she stole all of her mother's love the moment she came back.

She was uneducated and rude, but she managed to make her mother go soft with just one sentence. What a scheming witch.

How cheap!

Suzanne did not notice Kayleigh's reaction. She was still immersed in the joy of Eleanor's return. She said, "Alright, since Kay's back too, someone should go and rush those rascals. Why aren't they back yet?"

Now that Eleanor was back, Suzanne hoped everyone would come back to celebrate her return with her.

Who knew that all five of her sons would stand her up at the same time?

"Madam, Mr. Bennett said that he's busy with work, so he can't leave."

"Madam, Mr. Irving said that he has an important surgery tonight, so he can't come back."

"Madam, Mr. Thatcher said there's a race with the other racing team tonight, so he can't come home."

"Madam, Mr. Christopher said that he accidentally hacked the internet security system of the States, so he needs to solve it immediately. He can't come back tonight."

"Madam, Mr. Henri said he needs to do a photo shoot on the other side of the country. He won't be able to make it back tonight."

When Suzanne heard what the servants said, she felt a headache coming.

She sat at the dining table and said angrily, "What are those rascals doing? Their biological sister is back and they don't even want to come back to welcome her! How dare they miss this appointment!

"Also, Thatcher's excuse is preposterous!

"Is the race with his racing team more important than his sister? He only won a few world championships and now he's feeling invincible."

"..."

Eleanor was indifferent to what was said before, but the last sentence caught her attention.

"World championships? Is he the champion of the World Racing Championship?"

"Yeah."

Suzanne came back to her senses and looked at Eleanor with a smile. She asked, "Ellie, are you interested in racing?"

"No…"

Eleanor lowered her head to eat her food.

She said in her heart, ‘What a coincidence.'

Chapter 6 Thatcher Is Here

Since all five of her brothers missed the appointment, the dinner ended quickly.

Kayleigh was the happiest out of all of them.

Her brothers were not well-disposed people. It was difficult even for her to get along with them. Plus, they were making their opinions loud and clear by bailing on the dinner at the same time. They did not care about their biological sister at all!

This was the result she wanted.

What did it matter if she was the biological daughter of the Hawthornes?

She was nothing without the approval of her brothers!

It was obvious that her father did not like this young woman as well. As long as Kayleigh snatched her mother's love away from Eleanor, then she would have nothing!

Initially, Suzanne wanted to chat with Eleanor after dinner. She wanted to know how she had been these few years.

However, Eleanor had already promised Joe that she would race for him.

As such, she declined Suzanne's invitation.

"I'm tired. I don't want to talk," Eleanor said directly.

"Oh."

When Suzanne heard that, she was disappointed. However, she still smiled and said, "Right, you came here all the way here, so you must be tired. Well then, you should rest early. I'll bring you to buy some new clothes tomorrow."

"Okay."

After Eleanor said that, she closed the door.

After she closed the door, she recalled Suzanne's disappointed expression and remembered the old men telling her that she was too cold. She would hurt people easily with her coldness.

That woman was good to her, so she did not want her to be sad.

After she thought about it, Eleanor opened the door and called out to Suzanne who was about to leave.

"Wait."

"Yeah?"

When Suzanne heard her voice, she turned around in confusion. "Is there anything else, Ellie?"

Eleanor's expression looked complicated. She looked like she was struggling to say something, but in the end, she still said goodnight to Suzanne with scrupulous attention to detail, "Goodnight, Mom."

!!!

When Suzanne heard Eleanor calling her ‘Mom', she almost broke down crying.

She wiped away the tears from the corner of her eyes. She was extremely touched as she smiled at Eleanor. "Goodnight, Ellie. Rest early. Put the blanket over you at night, so that you don't catch a cold. If there's anything you need, you can just tell the servants who are on duty tonight."

"Alright," Eleanor replied and closed the door.

Suzanne was not bothered by the previous failure anymore.

Ellie was a good girl. She just did not know how to express herself, but it was fine. Now that she was back, they would have a lot of time to interact and get along with each other. Suzanne believed that this child would open her heart to her one day!

After Suzanne left, Eleanor turned off all the lights in the room and jumped down from the window.

However, Kayleigh was standing at the window of her room at this exact moment. Her room was next to Eleanor's, so she witnessed the scene of Eleanor leaving.

After she saw this, Kayleigh was stunned. Then, an ominous glint flashed across her eyes.

Was that not Eleanor?

Why was she leaving from the window for no reason instead of sleeping?

Indeed, this young woman who appeared from nowhere was not a good person after all! There was something fishy about her!

"Haha! Eleanor, oh Eleanor, you're in big trouble now.'

On the other side.

Herbst Hill.

Joe's team was already meeting with The Eagles.

The leader of The Eagles, Wyatt Smith, was looking at Joe from the other side arrogantly. He said provokingly, "Joe Taylor, I didn't think you'd show up. We had a deal. We'll send one racer from each team for the race. The loser will not only pay a stake of 300 million dollars, but they also have to address the winner as their master!"

"Wyatt Smith, you sniveling little rat! Is that guy even from your team? You got yourself an external aid!" Joe yelled.

"He's the external staff. What do you know?" Wyatt scoffed and said, "I don't care whether he's the external staff or permanent staff, at the end of the day, he's nominally ours! Hence, he's one of The Eagles!"

After Wyatt said that, a tall and handsome man who was leaning against a silver sports car said slowly, "So, which one of you from The Jaguars is racing me?"

There were two sexy car models by his side.

The models teased, saying, "It doesn't matter who they choose because they won't be able to defeat you anyway, Thatch. Hehe."

Wyatt ran over and tried to flatter him. "Master Thatcher, no one's worthy enough to be your opponent. Now that you're here, The Jaguars will definitely lose. As for your payment, I've already…"

Thatcher flicked away the ashes from his cigarette and smirked. "Who wants your stupid money? I'm just here to have some fun. The other team is just unlucky to have run into me."

"Haha, yes they are. They're so unlucky!"

Wyatt started to make fun of the other team as well.

Everyone from The Jaguars felt humiliated after The Eagles laughed at them.

Joe clenched his fists and smirked at the other team. "Wyatt, don't be so arrogant. Do you think that you can have external staff and we can't?"

"Oh?"

Wyatt looked at Joe in disdain. He said, "You're trying to get external aid like us? However, please use your monkey brain. The Eagles have Silver Flash to help us, so what's the use of you getting external aid now? Who can win against Silver Flash?"

"Hahaha!"

The Eagles started laughing at them again.

The Jaguars did not know about Eleanor, so they were starting to feel uneasy.

After all, the one next to them was Silver Flash!

They walked over to Joe and asked, "Dude, will your aid help us win?"

Joe looked at the menacing Thatcher and felt as if his imposing manner had been cut in half. He gulped and said, "I guess?"

However, Joe's tone was laced with uncertainty.

The Eagles were looking at them with more contempt now.

When Thatcher saw this, he started laughing uncontrollably.

Looking at this situation, he figured he might not be able to have much fun tonight.

Chapter 7 They Won

When The Eagles were confident about their win, there came the sound of an engine rumbling loudly all of a sudden.

"A car's coming," someone said.

A black flash whistled past with a great gust of wind. It was as if it was going to sweep everything in its way.

Everyone struggled to open their eyes from the gusts of wind coming from the car.

Then, the car stopped in front of everyone.

Joe's eyes lit up when he saw the car. He ran toward it, shouting excitedly, "Eleanor, you're finally here!"

After he said that, the door opened.

A woman got out of the car in a racing outfit. There was also a helmet used by professional racers on her head. Even though her face was covered, her perfect body that was highlighted by her skin-tight racing outfit was enough to attract everyone's eyes. None of them could avert their eyes from her.

"It's a woman!" the Eagles exclaimed.

One of them whistled obscenely after seeing Eleanor's body. He said, "She's so hot! She must be a car model, right? Then why's she trying to be a racer?"

"Right! Hey, pretty lady, you should be letting us hold you instead of trying to hold the steering wheel!"

"Hahahahaha…"

Joe's face was dark after hearing all the vulgar statements made by The Eagles.

He walked toward Eleanor and said, "Ignore them, Eleanor. They're just trash."

"It's fine. Do you think I'll bark back at a dog when it barks at me?" Eleanor said calmly.

"Pfft!"

Joe burst out laughing after he heard that. "Eleanor, you're the best in making snide remarks. However, why are you covering yourself up? Aren't you hot in that helmet?"

After he said that, Joe tried to remove Eleanor's helmet.

Eleanor slapped his hand away and scanned The Eagles cautiously. She asked, "Is there someone named Thatcher Hawthorne over there?"

"Yeah!"

Joe said in surprise, "Don't you know? The one racing you tonight is Silver Flash, Thatcher Hawthorne!"

"..."

It really was him!

Eleanor had heard about Silver Flash, but she never really paid attention to his name.

Huge mistake!

However, it was no big deal.

She had a helmet on anyway, so the other party would not recognize her.

She sat back inside the car and said, "I'm in a rush. Tell them to start now."

"Alright," Joe answered and walked over to The Eagles. "It's going to be 10 pm soon. We can start now, right?"

"Sure."

Wyatt laughed conceitedly and said, "Joe, remember to call me master later."

Joe fought back without showing any signs of weakness, scoffing. "It's not confirmed yet which one of us will be the master."

"Be stubborn all you want!"

Wyatt felt it was beneath his dignity to talk to Joe. He turned around and smiled flatteringly before saying, "Master Thatch, please."

Thatcher threw his cigarette away and looked at Eleanor.

That woman's drift just now was amazing.

Perhaps, this night would not be so boring anymore.

Two cars were on the starting line. After the signal sounded, they sped away like two black and white dragons.

The specialty of Herbst Hill was that it had a lot of winding roads.

Plus, it was on a hill, hence it would put the driver's skills and psychological qualities to the test.

This was the first time Thatcher drove in a place like this. Back then, he would train in the racing track that he built at home. However, since he was skilled, he was able to get used to this new terrain quickly even though he was not familiar with the roads.

Initially, Thatcher was some distance away from Eleanor.

After they passed the first checkpoint, The Eagles were holding their heads up high after the people reported the situation back to them. They said, "He really deserves to be called Silver Flash. He defeated her so easily!"

Wyatt even provoked Joe arrogantly.

Cold sweat started to appear on Joe's forehead.

He knew how amazing Thatcher was on the racing tracks.

Was Eleanor at her wit's end as well?

They were doomed.

When Joe started to lament in his heart, the person at the checkpoint reported suddenly, "She managed to catch up! The lady from The Jaguars managed to catch up!"

"What did you say?"

Wyatt was beyond shocked while Joe's eyes lit up.

Eleanor!

At this moment, they were on the latter half of the continuous winding roads on the hill.

In addition to that, it was a downhill road, so it would be easy for the car to lose control. Even Thatcher needed to slow down at a place like this. However, Eleanor was still speeding on.

When he saw Eleanor passing him, a flash of surprise appeared in Thatcher's eyes.

Her car would turn over if she made that curve at a speed like that.

Was that woman insane?

The car would be destroyed and she would definitely die if the car turned over here.

However, when he was thinking about this, Eleanor's car looked like it was restricted by something all of a sudden. It slowed down drastically and with the inertia, the car drifted along that curve. With that, she successfully left Thatcher behind.

Now that she had created this distance between them, it would be near impossible for him to overtake her again.

The result was obvious.

Thatcher's car slowed down.

He looked at the black car that was disappearing in front of him. This was the first time he saw someone driving as if they were longing for the sweet embrace of death. No, not only did she not value her life, but she was also extremely confident that she was able to make it.

Thatcher was not mad about losing, but instead, an excited and eager smile appeared on his face.

Initially, he just wanted to have some fun tonight.

Who knew he would meet such an amazing person here?

The external aid of The Jaguars? How interesting.

He figured that he had never met this person before.

He had to go over and interact with The Jaguars later. He wanted to know who she was.

Chapter 8 I Don't Like This Daughter

"What? She's gone?"

After Thatcher drove the car back to the starting line and was about to look for the person who raced him earlier, he was told that she had already left.

"Yeah…"

Wyatt looked at Thatcher timidly and said, "After she reached the finishing line, she didn't turn back. She just drove downhill and left. The Jaguars also left after they won the race."

"All of them?"

Thatcher put his hand on his hips and pondered while scratching his chin with the other.

However, he felt at ease after a while.

She could run this time, but she would have to come back sooner or later. Since she was the external aid of the Jaguars, then they must know who she was. He would just ask them someday.

On the other side.

Joe was inside Eleanor's car, saying excitedly, "Eleanor, I knew you'd be able to do it! You were so cool!"

"..."

"You were so far away from him initially, but in the end, you overtook Thatcher after the continuous curves! Did you see Wyatt's expression? That idiot's jaw was on the floor! I'm going to die from laughter! Hahaha!"

"..."

Eleanor rested one of her hands at the window lazily and drove with her other hand. She was not interested in what Joe had to say.

After he finished talking, she warned in a dull voice, "Don't tell anyone about my identity."

"Huh?"

Joe was confused after he heard that.

Glancing at him, she repeated, "If anyone asks about me, don't tell them anything. Remember, that includes everyone."

"Huh? Why?" Joe said in confusion, "The guys from the gang just texted me saying that Thatcher came looking for you after the race."

"..."

After she heard that, her eyebrows knitted together even tighter.

She added, "Especially Thatcher. If he comes for you, don't tell him anything about me."

"Why not?" Joe asked in puzzlement, "Eleanor, are you scared that he'll cause trouble for you?"

"I guess so," Eleanor said briskly.

Thatcher was her biological brother now. As such, they would definitely run into each other in the future. She did not want any unwanted troubles that would arise from what happened tonight.

"Alright!"

Joe patted his chest and said, "Your wish is my command, Eleanor."

"Okay."

The car stopped in front of a hotel.

Eleanor went back to her room she reserved and changed before tossing the keys back to Joe. She said, "I'll leave my car with you. I'm going home now."

"Oh, alright."

After Joe took the keys, he asked, "Eleanor, do you want me to drive you?"

"No," Eleanor answered briefly.

Then, she walked out of the hotel.

When she went back to the manor, she saw that the lights in her room were on. Immediately, she stopped in her tracks.

She did turn off the lights before she left, right?

Now, they were on.

She did not need to think to know that someone had discovered her absence.

She let out a light exhale, then walked toward the entrance.

Indeed, all of the lights were on.

Norman and Suzanne were sitting on the sofa while Kayleigh was standing at one side with schadenfreude on her face.

When the servants saw that Eleanor was back, they said, "Sir, Madam, Miss Ellie is back."

After she heard that, Suzanne lifted her head to look over. When she saw Eleanor walking in, she ran over and said, "Ellie!"

"Mom."

Eleanor only addressed Suzanne.

"Where'd you go?" At this moment, Norman's deep voice boomed across the house.

Eleanor looked over to the source of the voice and saw Norman walking over to her with a stern look on his face. Cold air was emitting from his entire body.

"I went for a walk," Eleanor said calmly.

"It's the middle of the night and you're taking a walk instead of sleeping?"

Norman was so mad that his voice raised one octave.

Kayleigh walked over quickly and said hypocritically, "Dad, don't be mad. Ellie's just arrived in the city. It's normal for her to sneak out to have fun because she's unable to control herself. We can teach her slowly. I'm sure we'll be able to change her bad behavior one day."

It would be fine if Kayleigh did not say anything.

After she said that, Norman was even more furious.

He did not like Eleanor to begin with.

Even though she was his biological daughter, she was covered in thorns. She looked extremely unapproachable and did not even address him as her father even once. Her coldness and her rebellious attitude enraged him. Eleanor was nothing like his adopted daughter, Kayleigh.

"Tell me, where'd you go?" Norman said angrily again.

"I went for a walk."

Eleanor peered at Norman and was not bothered by his anger. She answered him with no expression on her face.

"You!"

Norman was livid.

Suzanne stood between the two of them to try to ease the tension. She said, "Norman, Ellie said she went for a walk, so what's there to ask about?"

After she said that, she turned around and said to Eleanor, "Ellie, you must be tired after the walk. Go upstairs and rest now."

"Okay."

Eleanor nodded at Suzanne before going upstairs.

"Stop! Who permitted you to go upstairs?"

Norman was livid when he saw Eleanor walking upstairs.

Suzanne grabbed him and said, "Norman, Ellie just came back and she's not familiar with this house. Don't yell at her…"

"You've spoilt her!"

"Who's spoiling who?"

At this moment, a slow and hoarse voice came from the door.
